| The capital of alpinism, Chamonix has a long sporting history. From traditional alpine sports such as mountain climbing, rock climbing and skiing you'll now find everyone talking about paragliding, mountain biking, downhill mountain biking and white water rafting. |
When you first arrive here you'll be taken back by the stunning mountain sides that surround you. Snow capped peaks soaring to over 3000m above you, supported by a bed of lush green alpine forests below. The translucent azzure blue of the glaciers rolling off the mountains above the town is unique to Chamonix and a sight you'll never forget!
When you come to Chamonix you'll start to learn what the mountains are about and what the culture is that surrounds them. Step by step you'll be traversing forests,
alpine meadows, stunning lakes at over 2600m, passing over enormous slabs of granite and standing by glaciers that tower over you.
