 |
| Technical overview
of the ascent of Mont Blanc via the Gouter Route. |
| Description. |
| Day 1: From Chamonix
you go to the pretty town of St Gervais & take the
Mont Blanc Railway up to |
| the
Nid d'Aigle (2372m). After 2-21/2 hrs you arrive at
the refuge at the Tete Rousse (3167m) and take a well
earned break before setting out for the Aguille du Gouter
refuge (3819m) which would normally take a further 2-3hrs
& where you stay the night. Day 2: With an early
2am start, to make the most of morning snow conditions,
you approach Mont Blanc via the Dome du Gouter and will
reach the Vallot refuge (4362m) after 2.5-3hrs. From
here via the Bosses ridge you should make the summit
in 1-1.5hrs. The descent is either via the Aguille du
Gouter or Grands Mullets refuges and will normally take
a further 5 hours with the final descent via the Plan
d'Aguile. |
