| An overview of
the itinerary for both the 8 & 10 day trips. |
| Description. |
Day 1: Rendez-Vous. Meet at the hotel in the Chamonix valley. Equipment
preparation & a discussion on the days ahead. (D)

Day 2: Les Houches - Les Contamines. After taking
the cable car to the Bellevue, the trekking starts with
panoramic views of Mont Blanc after which you descend
under the Bionnassay Glacier & up the Col de Tricot.
A steep descent brings you to the Chalet de Mirage.
After lunch, a short climb there's a short climb up
to Le Truc & then downhill through a thickly wooded
hillside to finish the day in the charming small town
of Les Contamines. Hiking time - approx 6 hours. (BLD)
Day 3: Les Contamines - Les Chapieux. After a
short drive, you hike up an old Roman road to the Plan
des Dames, afterwards there is a long ascent to the
Col du Bonhomme, followed by a traverse across the Croix
du Bonhomme where you stop for lunch. In afternoon its
a gentle descent downhill on a grassy trail to Les Chapieux.
Hiking time- approx 6.5 hours. (BLD)
Day 4: Les Chapieux - Courmayeur. A transfer
takes you to the end of the Vallée des Glaciers
where there's a relatively easy hike over the Col de
la Seigne and an easy descent into Italy to the Lac
Combal and Visaille in the Val Veni. Another minibus
transfer to Courmayeur allows you to spend the end of
the afternoon exploring this beautiful town spectacularly
situated beneath the Grand Jorassas and Brenva Glacier.
Afterwards there's a short minibus ride to Lavachey
in the Val Ferret, where you rest for the night in small
and comfortable inn. Hiking time - 4 hours. (BLD)
Day 5: Lavachey - Champex. The day starts with
a short transfer & a walk up a beautiful trail,
passing the spectacular Glacier de Pré de Bar,
to the Grand Col Ferret to enter Switzerland. The descent
traverses la Peule & takes you down to the scenic
village of la Fouly, located beneath the Glacier de
lA Neuve. An easy trail continues down into the
Val Ferret to Praz-de-fort. From here there's a transfer
to the small Lake resort of Champex. Hiking time - 7
hours. (BLD)
Day 6: Champex - La Forclaz. You start with
a gentle hike down to Champex den Bas, where a
steep winding path to La Forclaz heads north across
alpine pastures with great views of Martigny, the Rhone
Valley and the Valais. Hiking time - 6-7 hours. (BLD)
Day 7: La Forclaz - Chamonix. From La Forclaz
you head up to the Col de Balme & into France. As
you reach the rise you're afforded stunning views of
Mont Blanc and the Chamonix valley. A descent over high
pastures & through the forest to Tre-le-Champ then
brings you to Argentiere where our 8 day adventure comes
to a close. Hiking time - 6 hours. (BLD)

Day 8: Chamonix. From here we stay at our base
in Chamonix. The morning starts at the Col des Montets
and moves on towards the cliffs of Le Chesery and the
Lac Blanc. The Lac Blanc arguably has one of the finest
views in the Chamonix Valley. From here we descend to
Flegere and return to the hotel. (B - 8 day), (BLD)
Day 9: Chamonix. We commence at Flegere, following
the trail through upper parts of the forest & across
the Gliere ravine to Charlanon where multiple springs
abound. From here we ascend to the Col du Brevent&
descend to the Chalets de Chailloux & the Parc Merlet
with its abundant wildlife. (BLD)
Day 10: Chamonix. The services finish after breakfast
& you're free to spend the day in Chamonix town
with its many attractions.
